This is a true story; unbelievable, but true!  On July 28, 2008, I was bitten twice on the elbow by a spider while taking a nap on My couch.  Fortunately, the next night I had dinner with My dear friend and physician, whose eyes went wide when he saw My swollen arm, and he gave Me "the face" when I tried to protest taking antibiotics he prescribed.  Well, here it is nearly 3 months later and I am still dealing with the effects of The Attack of The NYC Spider!  I have seen specialists for how crappy I've been feeling, therapists for pain management, and I've finally wised up and am going to see an acupuncturist to get this situation under control!  I've even been too lethargic to plan My Birthday party!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who would think a NYC spider could cause such havoc?  As I  began speaking about this, it seems that quite a few people have had serious issues with NYC area spider bites in recent times, so it's got to make one wonder...

So, I missed out on 2/3 of the the summer and the fun I had planned, including the parties and trips.  Trusting in The Universe, I am sure there is a reason for all of this unnecessary insect drama and I hope to look back on it one day and laugh.  Today is not that day.

For your protection, lemon verbena is a natural spider repellent.  Unfortunately with the stupid Food & Drug Administration's (big pharma inspired) crack down on natural remedies because of some incredibly stupid people not following instructions (remember that idiot who turned blue from improperly making his own colloidal silver? I only hope it also made him sterile so he won't breed any future idiots), herbs are becoming harder to obtain.  Fortunately, you can order many herbs via the internet and Angelica's Herbs will still be on 1st Avenue at 9th Street for a little while longer.  Sadly, after more than 30 years, they have lost their lease and are moving to Bushwick, Brooklyn.

Place the dried lemon verbena leaves behind, under, around bedding and areas where you spend a lot of time.  Lemon verbena does not kill spiders; they just really dislike it and stay away.  Since I am uncertain as to whether it is harmful to animals if ingested, I made a strong tea, put it in a spray bottle, and sprayed my lil' doggie's bedding and around his areas as well as sprayed My own.  I haven't seen a spider, a web, or anything that shouldn't be in My apartment without My permission since.  To be on the safe side, I spray around My apartment approximately once a week after a sissy maid cleans.

So, I expect to be back on My feet with event plans in the very near future!  In the meantime, look out for those spiders!

Your "Domme vs. dumme" article is something I appreciated reading very much! The whole "dumme" persona is what prevented me from exploring BDSM A LOT sooner. I’ve been dominant and sadistic (mostly emotionally, sometimes physically) since I was a little girl. I stumbled across SkinTwo when I was 16 and was mesmerized by latex and corsets, but wasn't sure how it would fit into my tomboy lifestyle, nor could I afford it at the time. I then went to my first fetish party when I was 18 and had it been a better scene, I'm sure I would have picked up a flogger that very night. Before I went, I knew it would be a joke because of where I lived. People there tended to do things for shock value. And sure enough I was right. They had 15 - 16 year old DUMMES whipping men tied to a St. Andrew's cross. I knew two of the girls. One went on to become a real Domme, but I did not know her well. The other was a girl I had just started to become friends with, but more in a spiritually mentoring type way (so I was actually surprised to see her there and she was just as surprised to see me). Not that I knew anything about ethical domination, but I DID know she was too stupid to be yielding a whip. I didn't even know about safe play or any terms at the time, but what she was doing just didn't seem safe or right and it was all done for shock value. I was just turned off by the whole thing and avoided the scene altogether. I didn't know what real BDSM was, but I knew it wasn't that and I wanted no part in it.

I continued my undefined ways in the vanilla world for YEARS until finally meeting the right group of people and learning about *real* BDSM (lots of reading + classes) and learning more about myself and now starting my journey into professional domination. I have a pro friend who is helping me along the way. It's a slow progression (she has a very busy schedule), and I have been tempted to work for a house to get more training in a more concentrated amount of time, however, I feel that ultimately this is the right path for me because I do not EVER want to have to session with someone just because he paid me and be as your called it, a "dungeon whore" and do scenes I have NO interest in. I still have a lot to learn, but my goal is definitely to be well-trained. So I'm glad I came across you and your website. It will certainly help in that process. The purpose of this section of My Newsletter is to stimulate what's best inside of people and encourage you all to let it out and share it with The Whole.

Below is My latest reflection regarding the path of Spiritual Hedonism, Responsibly Living for Pleasure.  This writing offers an opportunity for a perspective which will enhance your life.  I hope that you receive what you need.

     Seeing Yourself Through Your Friendships

The last installment in My Spiritual Hedonism blog reflected on how you judge yourself and that one of the best ways to see yourself is through the quality of the people who consider you a friend.  I received quite a few responses to that post and requests for "something more".  

As I stated in the last installment, the reasons that certain expressions last throughout generations are because they are based on truth.  So, I remember what the wise have said:

"Like attracts like."  "Birds of a feather flock together."  "Water seeks its own level." 

I believe that I have real friends because I am a real friend.  I give thanx for these gifts of friendship every day.

My advice for great friendships is to be a great friend by:

1.  Being who you really are.  This is the highest honor you can offer to another person.   I never advise "tolerating" things that you would not normally accept in your life in the guise of "being polite".  In reality, you are lying to the person and setting up resentments that don't need to exist at all;

2.  Being responsible for your own comfort.   Even if someone can read your mind, it is not their responsibility to know what you want until you have made your needs and desires clear.  From that moment on, it is a person's choice to be interested in your comfort.  Real friends are always interested in your comforts and do not feel imposed upon by accommodating them.  In fact, real friends are pleased when you are pleased;

3.  Honoring your boundaries.  This allows people to be able to communicate with you without "vampiring" on your energies.  You can develop polite ways to tell people that you are not "able to" communicate with them on certain topics, at certain times, etc. -- basically, when what's going on for them is draining you!  This is a good way to allow those who want to be your friend to understand your strengths and those who only seek to "feed off" of your energies to recognize that you are not going to be the free meal.

4.  Being truthful.  I actually practice developing  polite ways to express Myself truthfully in ways that will allow the person to understand Me without diminishing them in any way.  Your goal is to be able to get your point across in an empowering way that will strengthen your relationship and assist your friend on their path.  The truth will not only set you free, it frees the ones you care about.

5.  Having joy in the joys of others.  When you can truly be happy for someone else's good fortune, good fortune is your destiny.  Like energy attracts like energy.  If you want people who will honestly share in your joys, you must be able to love yourself enough to honestly be able to share in theirs.

6.  Being the type of friend you want to have in your life.  When you are aware of  what is going on for you and are aware of your changes, you can be honest in how you are a friend.  This requires continuous self-reflection, but that's part of what living and evolving is all about. 

Now, here's the true test of friendship: being able to accept criticism, the truth (no matter how much it sux), and being able to give these with love and care.  I'm not saying it's easy; I'm saying that it is worth doing whatever it takes to be a good friend when you have a good friend.

~ FreeRice is a great way to contribute to the world hunger problem while enhancing your vocabulary.  So, it is not only good for you, it is great for your kids.  For each word that you correctly know the meaning of, several grains of rice are placed in a virtual bowl.  When the bowl is full, you continue to create another bowl.  The bowls of rice you create are donated to starving nations.  The site keeps track of your best score and stays challenging with a wide variety of words.  So, feed the hungry every day with FreeRice.  I contribute at least 1000 grains every day.  Go for it!

I REALLY dislike SPAM, but worse, I dislike when My emails go into Y/your spam folder because people did not follow the easy instructions to make sure that Y/you receive My Emails.

So, here's a tip for easy viewing of Y/your spam folder: alphabetize the FROM column.  Y/you should be able to click on the small toolbar above your emails that lists who the emails are from, the subject, etc.  If Y/you click on the FROM tab, your emails should sort alphabetically.  The same goes for navigating your emails by clicking on the Date, Subject and other tabs to sort them for easy reading.  This little tip will save Y/you a lot of time and aggravation.

And be certain to CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER every day!
